How do I allow others to view my profile page?

You set the parameters of who visits your profile page. To ensure that others can view your profile, go to:

1. Tools – My Home

2. Select Privacy Settings under your profile photo

3. Go to General Settings and select “anyone” in the drop down box for Profile Search

4. Select viewable in the drop down box for the member list/member search

5. If you don’t follow these steps, only your buddies can view your profile and search for you. Please go to Tools/My Privacy for a full list of member options

How do I block other users?

You set the parameters in terms of what other people can see. To block a specific user go to

2. Select Privacy Settings under your profile photo

3. Select “Block List”

4. Add the username of the person you wish to block

How do I report inappropriate behavior?

What is Create a Date?

A picture is worth a thousand words, so we follow you as you live out your fantasy date, your group function, a party or any get together that you would like to share with other singles. The possibilities are endless. Since you are the celebrity of your own life, “Create a Date” is your opportunity to be the writer, director and star of your own romantic adventure. It’s a creative way for you to express yourself and create your fantasy date! Take action and make your dreams come true! You can upload your video to youtube.com or vimeo.com or upload it directly using the upload feature (supported formats include .avi, .mov, .mp4, .mpg and .wmv.) and then copy and paste the URL in the space provided. You can also add a photo. Connecting and sharing opens the door to creating a magical relationship. You never know, a fulfilling relationship might only be one “Create a Date” away!

Create a Date step by step

1. Create your date

2. Give your date a title

3. Upload it directly to Smingle using the upload icon (supported formats include .avi, .mov, .mp4, .mpg and .wmv.) or if your video is over 50 MB upload your date to youtube.com, vimeo.com or your favorite video sharing provider

4. If using a video provider click the insert/edit embedded media icon (the film strip)

5. Copy and paste the URL of your video into the URL box (when copying from youtube.com make sure that the “include related videos” is not checked)

6. Click Preview and the video will play within the box

7. Click Insert

8. Below your video add text/details about the date that you would like to share. If it is a group date you might want to clarify and also include the sex of the guests/friends that you each will bring. You can select a font type and size and play with the layout

9. Add keywords

10. Select your category/demographic (Straight date, gay date, lesbian date, bi/undecided date)

11. In addition to the video you can attach a photo that represents your date

12. Add an address (do not include your private address). You might include the address of a meeting place or the zip code of the area your date will take place so people in your area can find your date

13. Check your calendar and pick a date. You can also set the time the date begins and ends

14. Friends/Guests: If you want to create a double date add 1 guest, a triple date add 2 guests, a group date add the number you each must bring

15. You can make your date public (open to all Smingle members to join) or keep your date private (only those you invite can join). Please note that a private date will not allow anyone to join without a personal invitation from you)

16. Click Create Date “your date has been created” will appear along the top of the page

17. Each member who joins your date will receive an email notification congratulating them for joining the date and wishing them luck. The date will appear in both your profile and their profile under My Dates

18. Notification: When a member joins your date, you will also get an email with a link to their profile. Have fun exploring your options

Eliminating unwanted guests from my dates

Once you determine who will attend your date (the winner), you can delete all the other candidates by going to:

1. Tools - My Home

2. Manage/Add Dates

3. Created

4. Members

5. Check the box next to the person you want to delete and click remove from date

6. The date will disappear from their profile page once you delete them from attending

7. Now it is up to you. It is time to notify the winner by using one of the many communication tools within Smingle

How Do I manage/track my dates?

We make it easy for you to keep track of all your dates.

2. Attending: These are a list of dates that you are attending. You can remove yourself by selecting remove from date

3. Created: These are the dates that you have created. To view the date or invite a friend, click on the title. To view a list of the members you invited to the date, click Invites. When you find your match you can remove all other candidates from your list by clicking members and putting a check in the box next to the user you want to eliminate. Remove from date

4. Past: We all have a past. This is your history of dates

Why do I have to embed a “Create a Date?”

You can upload a video directly to Smingle from your computer unless the file is bigger than 50 MB. (Supported formats include .avi, .mov, .mp4, .mpg and .wmv.) You still have the option to use your favorite video sharing provider like youtube.com or vimeo.com. Upload your “Create a Date” videos there and copy and paste the URL into the space provided.

How do I purchase an award?

You can purchase awards for others or buy them for yourself. The link for Points & Awards can be found along the bottom of each page. Go to the awards catalogue on the Points and Awards page and enter the username of the person for whom you want to purchase the award. If you want to buy the award for yourself, just put in your username.

How do I send an award to another member?

When you go to the awards catalogue on the Points and Awards page and enter the username of the person for whom you want to purchase the award, it is automatically sent to that user. They will get a message explaining that the award was from you. (The link for Points & Awards can be found along the bottom of each page.)

How do I earn points?

We want to encourage and empower you to get the most out of your Smingle lifestyle, so you earn points as a reward for getting involved and participating within the community! It is as easy as registering, inviting friends to join, uploading pictures, videos, your favorite tunes, creating a date, a blog and the list goes on. As you “have fun” you earn points. How do I redeem points?

You redeem points by purchasing awards. Go to the awards catalogue on the Points and Awards page and enter your username or the username of the person for whom you want to purchase the award. Send someone a kiss, a hug, flowers – it is up to you. As you purchase awards they show up on your profile page. How do I create a group?

Before you create a group it is important to read the terms of use and privacy policy for Group Policy and Regulations. There are two ways to create a group.

1. Go to Tools- My Home under the main menu toolbar or go to related groups within the article pages and click view all

2. Click Manage/Add Groups

3. Create a name for your group

4. Click browse to upload an avatar

5. You can add an image (insert/edit image) using the tree icon or you can embed a video (insert/embedded media) using the film strip icon and pasting the URL of the image/video into the URL space provided

6. Write a description of the group

7. Add keywords so that other like-minded people can join your group

8. Select the appropriate category in the drop down box that best describes your group topic

9. Make your group open to the public or hidden so that you have control over who joins and who doesn’t join or closed by invitation only. Simply check the appropriate box

10. You can also keep all your group media private or public by checking the appropriate box

11. You can allow members to create group albums or not

12. You can allow members to add images to group albums or limit access to album creator or administrator

CREATE PAGES

How do I Create Pages (personalize my profile page)?

1. Click on Create Pages under the main tab bar

2. Click New Page

3. Create a title for your page

4. Options for adding images:

a) You can drag and drop photos that you have uploaded to images

b) You can add an image (insert/edit image) using the tree icon or you can embed a video (insert/embedded media) using the film strip icon and pasting the URL of the image/video into the URL space provided

c) You can paste the photo directly into the body of the page simply copy the image and paste it

d) To add a border to a photo, double click the photo. When you see the box around the photo, click the tree icon in the toolbar and add a number in the border box. (The higher the number the wider the border.)

5. Add text and color

6. Update Page

7. Keep your pages in order by dragging and dropping them in the order you like. Keep in mind that only the first 6 page titles will display in "My Pages" list view, however all page titles will be displayed and can be viewed via the drop down box on your profile page

9. You can see your statistics (Hits, Views, Created, Updated) by clicking Statistics

How do I edit my Create Pages?

1. Click on Create Pages under the main tab bar

2. Click Manage Pages

3. Select the page you would like to edit

4. Make your changes

5. Select Update Page to save your changes

6. Drag and drop to change the order of your pages

How do I delete my Create Pages?

1. Click on Create Pages under the main tab bar

2. Click Manage Pages

3. Select the page you would like to delete

4. When the page opens select Delete Page along the bottom

5. When the warning box opens select OK

How do I view my Create Pages?

1. Go to profile

2. Your private pages are listed under My Pages in the order they have been saved. Click the page title to view. Only the first six page titles will be listed, so save your pages in the order you would like them to display

3. Your private pages are also listed in your profile statistics at the top of the page in the My Pages box (change the page title in the dropdown box to view)
